JAMMU, Apr 20: The Indian Army rescued a critically ill woman from a remote village in Doda district after a night-long effort, officials said.
They said the woman, identified as Sheetla Devi, was suffering from seizures when her husband approached an Army post in Chill village on April 18 seeking urgent help.
Acting swiftly, troops reached her house in difficult night conditions and provided first aid to stabilise her, officials said.
On the morning of April 19, they said, the Army personnel carried her on a stretcher for nearly three kilometres through dense forest and steep terrain to the nearest road head at Ghar Katiyas, as there was no motorable road. She was later shifted to Primary Health Centre Dudu, where her condition is stated to be stable.
