NAGAM/BUDGAM, Apr 13: Reminding the workers of National Conference about their crucial role in the given situation where communal and divisive forces posed a challenge to the secular and peace loving people of this State, senior National Conference leader and Minister for Finance & Ladakh Affairs Abdul Rahim Rather today asked workers to vote in large numbers for the alliance candidates nominated by the NC-Congress coalition.
Addressing workers’ rallies at Sogam & Nagam in Central district of Budgam today, Mr. Rather said that the current Parliamentary election was a big battle between secular forces and communal forces, adding that need of the hour was to defeat communal forces by standing united. Launching a scathing attack on BJP for presenting its communal manifesto against Muslim Personal Law, Abrogation of Article 370 and construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, Rather said all these slogans are aimed at dividing the society on communal basis.
Rather said that this agenda has also endangered the identity of the J&K State which enjoys special status by virtue of Article 370 of the Constitution of India. He also ridiculed PDP for its soft corner towards BJP and Narendra Modi despite knowing that communalism was against the secular tradition and history of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mr. Rather said there was no room for communal forces in a diverse and united country like India and exuded confidence that the people of the State would defeat divisive and communal forces. He asked the workers to strive for upholding the “Hindu-Muslim-Sikh Itihad” slogan of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and give their verdict in the current parliamentary election against communal forces by voting for the NC-Congress coalition candidates.
