VC removes Chief Coordinator

JAMMU, Sept 16: Following some complaint, the Jammu University Vice-Chancellor has removed Prof Keshav Sharma from the post of Chief Coordinator Campuses as well as Rector of the Udhampur Campus.
A formal order divesting Prof Keshav Sharma of these responsibilities was issued this evening on the direction of Vice-Chancellor Prof M P S Ishar.
Prof Anil Kumar Raina of the Environment Sciences Department shall function as Rector Udhampur Campus in addition to his other duties relieving Prof Keshav Sharma from the position, says the University order.
The order further says that Prof Keshav Sharma is also relieved from the responsibilities of Chief Coordinator of Campus.
Besides, the Vice-Chancellor also removed Prof Keshav Sharma as head of the inquiry committee, which was constituted on last Friday for probing the murderous assault on a Sanskrit scholar by some activists of Progressive Students Association (PSA).
Prof Rajnikant of the Department of Physics and Electronics will now head the inquiry panel.
According to the sources in Vice-Chancellor Secretariat, Prof Keshav has been removed from these significant positions following a number of complaints against him.
He (Prof Keshav) was not executing his responsibilities as the Chief Coordinator Campuses as well as Rector of the Udhampus Campus thus adversely affecting the overall functioning and image  of the university, sources said.
Prof Keshav Sharma is also accused of misusing his official position as Chief Coordinator Campuses as well as Controller Examination and in one such instance, he had allegedly helped a retired Principal in getting Writer during B Ed examinations for copying purpose, sources further said.
Taking cognizance of these complaints, the Vice-Chancellor Prof M P S Ishar issued directions for immediate removal of Keshav Sharma from these positions and appointment of the new.
It may be recalled that Keshav Sharma was earlier also punished for his irresponsible actions by the then Vice-Chancellor Prof Amitabh Mattoo and then Prof Varun Sahni.
