CRPF jawan killed in PCR

JAMMU, Sept 16: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Lance Naik was killed in an accident gunshot that went off from carbine weapon of a police constable inside the Police Control Room (PCR) at Parade Ground this morning.
Police said the bullet went off from the carbine of constable Yasin Ahmed of Indian Reserve Police (IRP), 14 battalion and hit Mohammad Akbar Ali son of Mohammad Azeer Ali R/o Kamroop, Assam, a Lance Naik of 160 battalion of CRPF.
The bullet hit Akbar Ali in his chest causing him serious injuries.
Police parties led by SDPO City Kulbir Handa and SHO Pacca Danga Inspector Mahesh Sharma rushed to the spot and shifted the injured CRPF jawan to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital, Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Body of the deceased jawan has been dispatched for his native town after completion of legal formalities including post-mortem.
Police said constable Yasin Ahmad has been arrested and the carbine from which the bullet had gone off has been seized.
Yasin was being questioned on the accidental fire. A case has been registered at Pacca Danga police station.
