7728 cases disposed off in National Lok Adalats across J&K, Ladakh

JAMMU, Dec 14: A National Lok Adalat, 4th in the series of 2019, was held in all the courts across Jammu and Kashmir including both wings of the High Court of J&K today.
National Lok Adalat was held under the supervision of Justice Gita Mittal Chief Justice High Court of J&K, Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority, under the guidance of Justice Rajesh Bindal, Judge High Court of J&K and Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority and under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority.
Mohinder Kumar Sharma, Member Secretary J&K State Legal Services Authority, on the basis of information collected from all the courts, disclosed that the Lok Adalat was organized throughout Jammu, Kashmir and Leh-Ladakh. Out of a total number of 11461 cases taken up by 128 benches in the day long Lok Adalat at various courts, 7728 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 15,87,23,803 approximately was awarded as compensation/settlement amount in Civil, Criminal, Labour Disputes, Electricity and Water Bills cases, Land Acquisition, Family Matters, Cheque dishonour and Bank Recovery cases.
J&K High Court Legal Services Committee under the patronage of Gita Mittal, Chief Justice, High Court of J&K (Patron-in-Chief, J&K State Legal Services Authority) and guidance of Justice Rajesh Bindal, Judge, High Court of J&K (Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority), and special guidance of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Judge, High Court of J&K (Chairman High Court Legal Services Committee) organised National Lok Adalat at both the wings of the High Court Jammu and Srinagar.
In Jammu wing of the High Court, 3 benches were constituted, whereas, at Srinagar wing of High Court, 2 benches were constituted.
In both the wings of High Court, a total of 382 cases were taken up out of which 31 cases were settled and the compensation awarded was Rs 56.84 lakh.
JAMMU: District Legal Services Authority today held National Lok Adalat in the District Court Complex Janipur under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge RK Wattal who is also the Chairman DLSA and supervision of Secretary DLSA Naushad Ahmed Khan. A total number of ten benches were constituted. The first bench was presided over by Rajesh Sekhri, Special Judge Anti-corruption, CBI Cases Jammu and assisted by Kikar Singh Parihar, Presiding Officer, MACT Jammu, Tahir Khursheed Raina, Additional District and Sessions Judge Jammu, the second bench was presided over by Nighat Sultana, Additional District Jude, Bank cases, Jammu and assisted by Virinder Singh Bhou, 2nd Additional District and Sessions Judge Jammu, the third bench was headed by Kalpana Revo, Additional District Judge Matrimonial Cases Jammu and assisted by CL Bavoria, Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu, the fourth bench was headed by Deepak Sethi, Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu and assisted by Prem Sagar, City Judge Jammu, the fifth bench was headed by Surjeet Singh Bali Sub-Judge Special Mobile Magistrate Jammu and assisted by OP Bhagat, Municipal Magistrate. Jammu, the sixth bench was presided over by Rajni Sharma, Special Excise Magistrate Jammu and assisted by Smriti Sharma, Sub-Registrar Jammu and Rajni Bhagat, 3rd Additional Munsiff, Jammu, the seventh bench was headed by Pawan Sharma Sub-Judge Jammu and assisted by Preet Simian Kour, Munsiff Jammu, the eighth bench was headed by Sudesh Sharma, Sub/Judge Electricity Magistrate Jammu and assisted by Shabnam Sheikh, Forest Magistrate Jammu, the ninth bench comprised of Sandeep Gandotra, Special Mobile Magistrate, Passenger Tax Jammu and Parvez Iqbal, Railway Magistrate Jammu and the tenth bench comprised of Dinesh Gupta, Special Mobile Magistrate, Traffic Jammu, Slahuddin Ahmed, Additional Mobile Magistrate Traffic Jammu and Jeevan Kumar, 2nd Additional Munsiff Jammu. A total of 1948 eases were taken up, out of which 1719 cases have been settled. A total of Rs 51251595 was settled in the Lok Adalat. Similar, Lok Adalat benches were also constituted at Tehsil Headquarters at Akhnoor, Bishnah and RS Pura which were presided over by respective Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committees.
UDHAMPUR National Lok Adalat was held here. A total of six benches were constituted in the district. The first bench was comprised of ML Manhas Principal District and Sessions Judge Udhampur and Ajay Kumar District Mobile Magistrate Traffic Udhampur, the second bench comprised of Sobha Ram Gandhi Additional District and Sessions Judge Udhampur and Sandeep Kour Secretary DLSA, Sub Judge Udhampur, the third bench comprised of Mohammed Rafiq Chief Judicial Magistrate Udhampur and Kamiya Singh Andotra Munsiff JMIC Udhmapur, fourth bench comprised of Sub Judge Ramnagar Archana Charak and Advocate KD Sharma, fifth bench comprised of Munsiff Amandeep Kour and Advocate Balwan Singh and sixth bench comprised of Munsiff Priyanka Mahajan and Naib Tehsildar Karnail Singh. A total of 235 cases of different nature were taken up out of which 165 cases were settled on the spot.
REASI: District Legal Services Authority Reasi under the chairmanship of Kamlesh Pandit Principal District and Sessions Judge, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi organized National Lok Adalat on directions of State Legal Services Authority today. A total of 267 cases of different nature were taken up and 68 cases were settled and settlement amount of Rs 17,95,516 was awarded. Four benches for settling the referred cases were constituted. First bench was presided over by Kamlesh Pandit, District Judge Reasi who was assisted by Rimpi Rani, Munsiff Reasi, second bench was presided over by AS Langeh, Sub Judge, CJM Reasi who was assisted by Anjum Ara, Secretary (Sub Judge), District Legal Services Authority Reasi and Assma Choudhary, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Reasi, third bench was presided over by Romesh Lal, Sub-Judge Katra who was assisted by Sunil Kumar, Munsiff Katra and fourth bench was presided over by Rajeev Kumar Tadyal Munsiff Mahore who was assisted by Tehsildar Mahore.
RAJOURI: National Lok Adalat was held at District Court complex here under the chairmanship of Jaffer Hussain Beg, Principal District and Sessions Judge. On the occasion, two benches were constituted. The first bench was headed by Kusoom Lata Pandita Additional District and Sessions Judge and assisted by OP Thakur, CJM Rajouri, while the secnd bench was headed by Meyank Gupta, District Judicial Mobile Magistrate (T) Rajouri and assisted by Shaheen Ahmed Khan, PP Rajouri. Similar benches were also constituted at Tehsil Level which were headed by Presiding Officers of the respective Courts. A total of 385 cases were taken up out of which 230 cases were disposed off. An amount of Rs 55,02,500 was awarded as compensation. A Lok Adalat was organized at Munsif Court Thanna Mandi in which 57cases were taken up out of which 51 cases were settled. A fine of Rs 55380 was imposed. The Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Brij Raj Singh JMIC and Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Thanna Mandi.
POONCH: A National Lok Adalat was organized in District Courts here. At District HQ two benches were constituted. First bench was presided over by Madan Lal Chairman DLSA (Principal District and Sessions Judge Poonch, while second bench was presided over by Som Lal CJM (Chairman TLSC Poonch) and assisted by Advocate Mukhtar Ahmed Poonch. At Surankote bench was presided over by Ashan-Ul- Haq Malik Chairman TLSC/Sub- Judge Surankote and assisted by Shafiq Ahmed Additional Mobile Magistrate Surankote. A total of 220 cases were taken up out of which 181 cases were settled. In MACT, 4 cases were settled, 26 criminal cases, 12 civil cases were also decided and total amount settle was of Rs 4200493.
RAMBAN: National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Principal District and Session Judge, Ramban Kishore Kumar in the District Court Complex here. Four Benches were constituted in the Lok Adalat. The first bench was presided over by Chairman District Legal Service Authority, Ramban, Kishore Kumar who was assisted by Secretary District Legal Service Authority (Sub Judge) Ramban, Amit Sharma and the 2nd bench was presided over by Chairman Tehsil Legal Service Committee (CJM) Ramban, Pardeep Kumar Sandhu who was assisted by Munsiff JMIC Ramban, Junaid Imtiyaz whereas 3rd bench was presided over by Sub Judge Batote, Madan Lal, who was assisted by Advocate PB Katoch and the 4th bench was presided over by Munsiff JMIC Gool, Sarfaraz Nawaz who was assisted by Tehsildar Gool. A total of 372 cases of different nature were taken up out of which 220 cases were settled. An awarded of Rs 39,62,500 was passed in MACT and other has been recovered in the National Lok Adalat.
SAMBA: National Lok Adalat was organized at District Court complex here under the chairmanship of Mohammad Akram Chowdhary, Chairman DLSA (Principal District and Sessions Judge Samba. Two benches were constituted on the occasion. The first bench was headed by Mohammad Akram Chowdhary, Chairman DLSA (Principal District and Sessions Judge) and was assisted by Swati Gupta Secretary, DLSA, Samba, while the second bench was headed by Ajay Gupta Chief Judicial Magistrate Samba and was assisted by Jyoti Bhagat Additional Munsiff Samba. A total of 224 cases were taken up and 116 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 43,62,996 was settled.
KATHUA: National Lok Adalat was held in District Court complex here under the supervision of Pawan Dev Kotwal, Chairman, DLSA Kathua. Two benches were constituted on the occasion. The first bench comprised of Pawan Dev Kotwal, Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua and Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Additional District and Sessions Judge Kathua, while the second bench comprised of Yashpal Sharma, CJM Kathua and Rekha Kapoor Nichal, Munsiff JMIC Kathua. The Lok Adalats were also organized by Tehsil Legal Services Committees Hiranagar, Billawar, Bbasholi, Bani and Munsiff Mahanpur. A total of 198 cases were taken up out of which 105 were settled. Compensation worth Rs 16,90,000 was awarded in MACT cases and recovery of Ts 13,54,414 was also made in favour of the banks.
SRINAGAR: District Legal Services Authorities organized series of National Lok Adalats in District Court complexes at all the district headquarters across Kashmir region in which over 330 cases were settled. In this regard, DLSA Srinagar, today organized a National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Momin Abad, Batamaloo. A total number of 1843 cases were taken up out of which 1458 cases were settled. Besides, Rs 21865000 was awarded as compensation by MACT Srinagar and Rs 8185500 has been collected as settlement amount by different courts. Fine of Rs 518500 has also been collected during the program.
National Lok Adalat was formally inaugurated by Principal District and Session Judge, Abdul Rashid Malik who is also the chairman of DLSA.
Secretary DLSA, Adnan Saeed informed that a total of nine benches were constituted in Srinagar for amicable settlement of numerous cases out of which eight benches were held at District Court Complex Momin Abad, Batamaloo and one bench was held at Pantha Chowk.
The first bench comprised of Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar Abdul Rashid Malik and Suresh Chanderkatal Presiding Officer MACT Court Srinagar, the second bench comprised of Additional District and Session Judge Srinagar Sanjay Parihar and 2nd Additional Munsiff Muneer Ahmed, the third bench comprised of Additional District and Session Judge Bank Cases Srinagar Balbir Lal and Bisma Khan Advocate (Retainer lawyer), the fourth bench comprised of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar Gowhar Majeed Dalal and Sub Registrar Srinagar Fariqa Nazir, the fifth bench comprised of Sub-Judge, Forest Magistrate Srinagar Manoj Parihar and 1st Additional Munsiff Srinagar Tabraiz Ahmad, the sixth bench comprised of PT&E Magistrate Srinagar Umi Kulsoom and 3rd Additional Munsiff Srinagar Fozia Paul, the seventh bench comprised of Special Mobile Magistrate Traffic Srinagar Yahya Firdous and Mir Naveed Gul Advocate (Panel lawyer), the eighth bench comprised of Additional Mobile Magistrate Traffic Srinagar Mir Wajahat and Shuja Khan Advocate (Retainer lawyer), the ninth bench comprised of Masarat Jabeen Additional Special Mobile Magistrate (13th FC) Pantha Chowk Srinagar and President Bar Association Pantha Chowk (Member).
BUDGAM: National Lok Adalat was organized by DLSA in District Court complex here under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Budgam Raja Shujaat Ali.
Munsiff Judge Budgam Tabasum Qadir Parray along with senior Advocate Syed Sajad Geelani as member presided over the National Lok Adalat. During the Adalat, hundreds of cases related to different nature were put up for hearing and subsequently a large number of cases among them were settled on spot through mutual consent, understandings between the concerned parties. However, an amount of Rs 1 lakh as compensation was recovered from the defaulter involved in cheque bounce case.
KULGAM: National Lok Adalat was held in District Court complex under the chairmanship of DLSA, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kulgam Mohammad Ashraf Malik. During the program, four Benches were constituted in the district; two benches were held at Headquarter and one each at DH Pora and Qazigund. All the benches were headed by Judicial Officers and Staff members. A total of 128 cases were taken up, out of which 58 cases were amicably settled. An award of Rs 20,10,000 was passed in favour of victims in MACT cases and an amount of Rs 540504 was realized in different cases related to bank and labour cases and an amount of Rs 1000 was imposed as fine in criminal RPC challan and traffic challan was also recovered.
KUPWARA: National Lok Adalat was held here. A total of nine benches were constituted in the District, where 4 benches were constituted at District Headquarter Kupwara, 3 benches at Court complex, Handwara and 1 bench each at Munsiff Court, Sogam and Munsiff Court Tangdhar. Principal District and sessions Judge Kupwara, Inder Singh chaired over the Lok adalat at district headquarters Kupwara. 499 cases were taken up and out of these 169 cases were disposed off. A sum of Rs 33.85 lakh was recovered as Bank dues, besides an amount of Rs 47500 was recovered as Electricity dues and Rs 2500 was recovered as fine in Traffic violation matters.
SHOPIAN: National Lok Adalat was held here at District Court complex under the chairmanship of Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Shopian. 10 Benches were constituted in the district in which 285 cases related to MACT, recovery suits traffic challans, civil cases, matrimonial cases and relief cases were taken up, out of which 266 cases have been settled. An amount of Rs 26,890 has been recovered as fine and Rs 8,00,000 was awarded in relief cases and Rs 12,70,000 was realized from defaulters in recovery cases.
BANDIPORA: DLSA organized National Lok Adalat in District Court complex here under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Bandipora Syed Sarfaraz Hussain.
A total of 199 cases were taken up out of which 100 cases were settled and a settlement amount of Rs 95.100 lakh was awarded in various cases. Two benches were constituted in Bandipora district Court complex while one court was constituted at Sumbal. The first bench was presided over by CJM Iqbal Masoodi while the second bench was presided over by Secretary District Legal Services Authority Mohammad Iqbal Akhoon. Third bench was presided over by Judicial Magistrate Ist Class Zahoor Ahmad Ganie.
GANDERBAL: DLSA held National Lok Adalat in the district. Four Lok Adalat benches were constituted–three at Ganderbal and one at Kangan. National Lok Adalat was held under the supervision of Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Mohammad Yousuf Wani. A total of 268 cases were taken up out of which 144 cases were settled.
BARAMULLA: DLSA organized Lok Adalat here during which 825 cases were settled amicably. The Lok Adalat was organized under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Baramulla, Sanjeev Gupta. As many as 10 benches were formed for the National Lok Adalat wherein 2500 cases of varied nature were taken up. Moreover, Rs 1.10 crore was realized as a settlement amount during the proceedings of the Lok Adalat.
Similarly, National Lok Adalats were also conducted at Tehsil levels which were organized by concerned Tehsil Legal Service Committees.
PULWAMA: DLSA organized National Lok Adalat at District Court complex and its sub-ordinate courts under the supervision of Principal District and Sessions Judge (Chairman DLSA Pulwama) Mohammad IbraheimWani. During the Lok Adalat, 353 cases were taken up out of which 280 cases were settled by three benches and a fine of Rs 48500 was realized and a settlement amount of Rs 183000 in bank recovery cases was also recovered.
