JAMMU, Dec 14: As a part of the ongoing cultural, academics and sports meet, Acharya Shri Chandra College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) today organised Fresher Day-Abhivaadan-2019 at its campus.
Director, Department of Information and Public Relations (DPIR), Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar, was the chief guest, while CEO Youth Mission, Dr. Syed Abid Rashid, was the guest of honour at the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sehrish urged the trainee doctors to work hard and resolve to serve mankind with full devotion. She advised them to put their head and heart while treating the ailing.
Dr. Asgar shared her experiences as a medical student and said that those opting for medical profession should exhibit qualities of patience, dedication, devotion and humbleness while discharging their duties.
Appreciating the contribution of the ASCOMS in the arena of medical education, Dr. Sehrish urged the management and the faculty to continuously strive for keeping the institution abreast with the fast changing techniques and new concepts in patient care and treatment.
Addressing the future doctors, Dr. Abid asked the trainees to work hard and learn from their seniors the qualities and ethics required for this profession. “You need to come up to the expectations of your parents and the society by working hard to achieve professional excellence” he advised them.
A scintillating cultural programmes was also presented by the students, which mesmerized the audience. Students were also awarded for their performance in the contest.
Nimish was crowned as Fresher, while Archita was crowned as Miss Fresher, Ashutosh was adjudged as Mr Talented and Rishika as Miss Talented, Ujjwal was named Mr Charming and Ojaswi as Miss Elegant.
Among others present were Joint Secretary, D.K Batra; Director Principal ASCOMS, Dr. Pavan Malhotra; Vice Chairman HoD Paediatrics, Dr. Ravinder Gupta; HoDs, faculty members, staff and students of the college. A large number of parents and prominent citizens also graced the occasion.
