UDHAMPUR, July 22: District Drug Destruction Committee, headed by SSP Udhampur. Dr Vinod Kumar today carried out incineration of 771.934 kg poppy straw, which was seized in case FIR number 481/2023 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act of PS Udhampur.
The incineration was held in M/s Anmol Healthcare Rakh Rara, Swankha Morh, Vijaypur, Samba by the Drug Destruction Committee, comprising of Anwar Ul Haq, Addl. SP Udhampur, Gurmeet Singh DySP Hqrs Udhampur and Darshan Singh Sr PO Udhampur.
The incineration was conducted following all the codal formalities. The destruction was carried out by incineration in a controlled manner as provided under rules to avoid any harm to the environment.
In the entire process, Executive Magistrate Mohd Saleem (NT Roun) and Kuldeep Bhan Divisional Officer PCC Jammu also accompanied the Drug Destruction committee.
Before this, the seized contraband was checked, weighted and tallied with the record. The entire process, right from godown upto incinerator was duly videographed and kept under proper security.
Pertinently this huge quantity of the seized contraband substance has been destroyed under section 52-A of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
