UDHAMPUR, Dec 3: In a major success against smuggling of narcotics, SOG Jammu conducted two raids at separate locations under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur and seized 711 kg poppy straw besides arresting two inter-State smugglers.
Reports said that SOG Jammu laid a special naka with the sleuths of PS Udhampur and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JKO3D 7707 , which was on way from Kashmir towards Jammu. 365 kilograms poppy straw was found concealed in bags in the truck.
Police seized the poppy straw and arrested driver of the truck, identified as Sunil Kumar son of Dharampal of Gandhi Camp, Jalandhar. In this connection case FIR number 570/2019 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at PS Udhampur.
In another operation , SOG Jammu and Police Party of Udhampur, during naka checking at Jakheni late last night, intercepted one truck bearing registration number PB32E -7299, in 346 kg poppy straw was being smuggled,
Police seized the poppy straw and arrested the truck driven, namely Lucky son of Anayat Massi of Chitta Pindh, District Jalandhar Punjab. In this connection, case FIR number 571/2019 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Udhampur.
The whole operation was monitored closely by SSP Operations Jammu, Sandeep Mehta and was supervised by SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey.
