JAMMU, Feb 15: In a significant move against encroachment on State land, the Sub Divisional Magistrate,(SDM) S. P. Rakwal has retrieved 7 kanal of encroached land in Badyal Brahmana, R. S. Pura.
The land has been handed over to concerned Panchayat for development of the same as public utility.
Later, the SDM chaired a meeting of 14 departments which have been brought within the ambit of Panchayati Raj Institutions for review and monitoring.
During the meeting, the officers and Panchayat representatives suggested several innovative measures to further streamline working of these departments. Besides, a number of issues hampering smooth functioning of these departments thus affecting development of the area were also deliberated upon.
Rakwal directed the sectoral officers to convene a meeting on 5th of every month at their headquarters to assess progress and shortcomings of their respective departments and submit feedback report to him.
The SDM also exhorted upon the officers to ensure punctuality in their offices which is pre- requisite for better deliverance of public services. “Any laxity in this regard would not be tolerated and the erring employees have to face action”, he maintained.
