6 die of COVID in J&K, 4 in Ladakh; 452 infected

JAMMU, Dec 2: Six persons died of COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir today while 452 tested positive and 403 recovered. The Union Territory of Ladakh reported four COVID casualties and 62 new cases.
Among three casualties in Jammu region, two were reported from Jammu district and one from Rajouri.
An 80-year-old man from Sainik Colony and 80-year-old woman from Bhor Camp in Jammu district died of co-morbidities and COVID-19 in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today.
Another 80-year-old woman from village Laam in Darhal area of Rajouri district died of the virus in GMC Rajouri.
Former GMC Jammu Principal Dr Nasib Chand Digra, presently posted in the Health and Medical Education Department in Civil Secretariat who had tested positive for Coronavirus recently, was today admitted in the GMC Jammu after he developed complications.
Two kin of an IAS officer, who hailed from Jammu and Kashmir but is posted outside, have also been admitted in the GMC Jammu due to COVID-19.
Son of a prominent hotelier of Jammu tested positive for the virus today.
Meanwhile, four casualties—two each male and females—were reported from Leh district in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
An 81-year-old Tibetan refugee settled at Camp No. 6 in Leh, a 90-year-old man from Leh, 87-year-old from Lardo and 50-year-old woman from Skara died of COVID and other ailments in Leh.
The UT of Ladakh now has 121 Corona casualties—79 in Leh and 42 in Kargil.
Besides, Ladakh reported 62 new Corona cases today—55 in Leh and seven in Kargil taking Corona count of the UT to 8477 including 793 active positives while 7565 have recovered from the virus.
Among 258 positive cases in Jammu region, 127 were reported from Jammu district and 54 from Udhampur while out of 168 who recovered from the virus, 58 belonged to Jammu, 33 Kishtwar, 29 Doda and 20 Udhampur.
Jammu region now has 44864 Corona cases. Among them, 2402 are active positives while 41864 have recovered from the virus. There have been 598 casualties in the region, the highest being 304 in Jammu district.
Meanwhile, three persons died of COVID-19 in Kashmir today while 194 tested positive.
A 60-year-old woman from Nowbugh in Ganderbal district died at SKIMS Soura, a fortnight after she was admitted to the hospital.
An 80-year-old man from Chhanapora in Srinagar died at SMHS hospital, a week after being admitted there.
A 70-year-old man from Chokibal in district Kupwara died after remaining admitted to the SKIMS Soura for 13 days.
With these deaths, the total fatality count in the Valley has reached 1110.
Srinagar district with 419 deaths topped the list followed by Baramulla 163, Budgam 101, Pulwama 86, Kupwara 84, Anantnag 79, Bandipora 51, Kulgam 51, Ganderbal 39 and Shopian 37.
And 194 people from Kashmir today tested positive for COVID-19.
They include 81 from Srinagar, Baramulla 25, Budgam 21, Pulwama 9, Kupwara 16, Anantnag 8, Bandipora 14, Ganderbal 17 and Kulgam 3.
As per officials figures, 23,257 positive cases including 419 deaths and 21,725 recoveries are from Srinagar, 7,498 including 163 deaths and 7,081 recoveries are from Baramulla, 6,961 including 6,615 recoveries and 101 deaths are from Budgam, 5,127 including 4,897 recoveries and 86 deaths are from Pulwama, 5,224 including 84 deaths and 4,915 recoveries are from Kupwara, 4,571 including 4,366 recoveries and 79 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,445 cases including 4,267 and 51 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,231 including 4,004 recoveries and 39 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,599 including 2,492 recoveries and 51 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,353 including 2,245 recoveries and 37 deaths are from Shopian.
The active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 4,951 including 2,549 from Kashmir division.
With 403 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 104,471 which is 94.02 percent of the total cases. The recovered persons have been discharged from various hospitals of which 235 are from Kashmir valley.
