55 bovine animals rescued, 2 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, May 12: Udhampur Police today foiled a major attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 55 animals by intercepting two trucks at Chenani.
Police also arrested both the accused smugglers and seized the trucks, in which the bovine animals were being smuggled to Kashmir.
According to SSP Udhampur, Rajiv Pandey, a police party of Police Station Chenani led by SHO Paramjeet Singh, under the supervision of Santokh Raj Deol, SDPO Chenani and Rajinder Singh Katoch, Adl SP Udhampur, laid a naka at Motorshed, Chenani and intercepted two trucks bearing registration number JK 14B- 8523 and JK14 B- 6555 .
During checking, , 55 bovine animals were found loaded in both the vehicles without any permission. All the bovine animals were rescued and both the drivers namely Parvez Ahmed, son of Junaid Ali of Krimchi, Udhampur and Nayaz Ahmed, son of Mohd Tahare of Dansal Jammu, were arrested on the spot.
In this connection, cases under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation is going on.
