54 bovines rescued; 5 smugglers held in Rajouri

RAJOURI, Aug 5: The police foiled two separate bovine smuggling attempts and rescued 54 cattle from the clutches of smugglers in district Rajouri last night.
Official sources said that during wee hours of today, it was reliably learnt that some bovine smugglers are carrying bovine from Mathyani Taryath and Sadha Kalakote towards Nagathub Kotranka via Khwas.
On this information a special naka was established at Nagathub by a police team headed by SHO Budhal Jahangir Ahmed under the supervision of DySP OPs Sukhdev Singh.
During naka, police rescued 25 animals from a smuggler namely Liaquat Ali, son of Chattu, resident of Audhan.
Similarly, 20 bovines were rescued from Mohd Qassim, son of Mir Hussain resident of Gunda. The police has taken cognizance.
Another police team headed by SHO Manjakote, Ajaz Haider under the supervision of SDPO Manjakote Imtiyaz Ahmed during routine patrol at Niaka border road intercepted vehicle (Mahindra Bolero) JK11A 4408 and rescued 9 bovine from the vehicle.
Three smugglers namely Shokat Hussain, son of Mohd Sharief, resident of Nowshera, Mohd Waqar, son of Qamar Shaban, resident of Qila Darhal and Mohd Ashraf, son of Mohd Aslam, resident of Qila Darhal were arrested and FIR registered. A total of 54 animals in two separate bovine Smuggling bids were rescued by police.
