UDHAMPUR, May 7: Udhampur Police apprehended four bovine smugglers and rescued 51 animals that were being smuggled to Kashmir in four trucks, intercepted at Jakhani Naka point on the National Highway.
Reports said that a team of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Inspector Raghubir Singh, apprehended four vehicles bearing registration number JK02X-5534, JK02AL-2195, JK02AB-0511 and JK02J-1517.
During checking, 51 bovines were found loaded in these Trucks. Police rescued the animals and arrested drivers of these vehicles, who were identified as Towheed Ahmed son of Farooq Ahmed of Kulgam, Arshad Ali son of Junaid Ahmed of Nagrota Jammu, Anwar Hussain son of Wazir Hussain of Rajouri and Mohd Taib son of Bashir Ahmed of Kokernag.
Four different cases FIRs, under section 188 IPC have been registered in this connection at Police Station Udhampur.
