Srinagar, June 6: The police today seized five vehicles, including a JCB, a dumper and three tippers, allegedly involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Shopian and Baramulla districts.
Officials said a police team from Police Post Keegam intercepted a JCB and a dumper during routine patrolling in Shopian and found them involved in extraction and transportation of minerals from Rambiara Nallah without valid royalty documents.
An FIR (No. 105/2026) has been registered at Police Station Shopian and further investigation has been taken up.
In Baramulla, a police team led by the Incharge Police Post Delina seized three tippers during surveillance in the Delina area after receiving specific inputs about illegal mining activities.
The vehicles were allegedly being used for extraction and transportation of sand and were seized under relevant provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act.
