5 kanals of forest land retrieved in Sidhra

JAMMU, June 21: In an anti-encroachment drive, a team of Jammu Forest Division cleared five kanals of Forest land and dismantled two structures in Dwara area of Sidhra today.
Official sources said that a Forest leam led by Rakeshwar Singh, Range Officer Jammu, alongwith Block Forest Officers- Salamt Ali, Rakesh Dubey and Maqbool Hussain and other forest field staff, organized an operation and removed encroachment over 5 Kanals of Forest land falling in Compartment No. 65/B of village Dwara near Tawi bank under Sidhra and dismantled two tin sheds in an anti- encroachment drive illegally raised by Hashim Din, Shabh Din, Tahir, Fazal Din, all resident of Dwara.
On the request of Forest Department, Anshul Garg, Deputy Commissioner Jammu and Chandan Kohli, SSP Jammu deputed Shiv Kumar Naib Tehsildar, as Duty Magistrate and Police personnel led by Vikram Kumar, SDPO and Kirti Sharma, Inspector SHO Bagh-e-Bahu to tackle law and order situation.
Despite resistance the situation was handled with the assistance of Police and two illegal tin sheds constructed on Forest land were smashed and 5 Kanal of Forest land was retrieved. Further, the Forest area was also secured by fencing and plantation.
The higher officers including Dr Mohit Gera PCCF J&K, Ramesh Kumar, CCF Jammu and CF East Circle Samuel Changkija appreciated the efforts of the officials and directed to take all the measures to prevent encroachment on Forest land.
