5 drug peddlers arrested with ganja, poppy straw

JAMMU, Oct 31: Gangyal, Gharota and Manwal police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested five drug peddlers and recovered ganja and poppy straw from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Gangyal Police Station laid a naka near Digiana Camp and intercepted a pedestrian, who was moving under suspicious circumstance.
During checking, police recovered 3 kilograms of ganja from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Nirmal Mohanta, son of Nityananda Mahanta, a resident of Orrisa, at present Marakhari Gangyal.
A case under FIR Number 85/18 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Gangyal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Jammu Dr Sunniya Ashkoor Wani, SP South Vinay Kumar and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
Meanwhile, a team from Gharota Police Station arrested three drug peddlers hailing from Punjab and recovered 19.100 kilograms of poppy straw from their possession.
The arrested persons had brought the consignment from Punjab for selling among the youth in Jammu for monetary benefits.
A case under FIR Number 104/18 has been registered at Gharota Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gharota SI Dheeraj Nagpal made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Ajay Sharma, SP Rural Dushyant Sharma and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
In another incident, a team from Manwal Police Post laid a naka at Jeda Kishenpur and intercepted a Maruti car bearing registration number JK03-1370.
During checking, police recovered 10.200 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Talib Hussain, son of Noor Hussain of Khoon Tehsil Majalta District Udhampur.
A case under FIR Number 112/18 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Manwal Police Post SI Kunal made the arrest under supervision of SHO Jhaajar Kotli Inspector Sanjeev Gupta, SDPO Nagrota Mohan Sharma, SP Rural Dushyant sharma and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
