JAMMU, Jan 11: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu, Kartar Singh today convicted Ajit Singh alias Kaka, Paramjeet Singh alias Pummy, Jatinder Singh, Milkha Singh and Ajit Kumar and acquitted Ranjodh Singh alias Nalwa, Narinder Singh and Ajmer Singh alias Vicky in the much publicized Narwal double murder case. Court has fixed January 15, 2014 for arguments on punishment of five convicted accused.
According to the police case, on February 5, 2010 one Surinder Singh alias Kala, son of Isher Singh deposed before the police that his brother Gurnam Singh and maternal uncle Rajinder Singh were brutally attacked with sharp edged weapons by the accused persons over an old enemity.
On the complaint, police registered a case and after completion of investigation presented challan in the court of law. On December 28, 2010, Trial Court framed murder, conspiracy and other charges against accused Ajit Singh alias Kaka, Paramjeet Singh alias Pummy and Jatinder Singh under Sections 302/148/149/120-B read with Section 201 RPC and 4/25 Arms Act whereas charges under Sections 302/120/-B/148/149 RPC were framed against Milkha Singh and Ajit Kumar.
Similarly, offences under Sections 302/120/-B RPC were prima-facie made out against accused Ranjodh Singh alias Nalwa, Narinder Singh and Ajmer Singh alias Vicky whereas the proceedings under Section 512 CrPC were initiated against Jeet Singh.
Today, after hearing both the sides, Court convicted five accused and acquitted three others.
