5 attempts of bovine smuggling foiled, 31 animals rescued

UDHAMPUR, Nov 15: Police foiled five separate attempts of bovine smuggling in Udhampur district and rescued 31 numbers of cattle, which were being smuggled to Kashmir.
Three vehicles loaded with bovine animals were intercepted at Chenani while two attempts were foiled at Tikri.
Reports said that three Tata Mobile vehicles, bearing registration number JK02CD- 9921, JK022A-4824 and JK14F-3619 were intercepted by a Police party at Chenani. During search, 27 bovine animals were found loaded in these vehicles. Police rescued the animals and arrested drivers of two vehicles while the third one managed to escape.
The arrested accuseds were identified as Ishtaq, son of Ab Rashid of Baisht and Yasser son of Mohd Iqbal of Gojarbasti, Anantnag.
In this connection, Case FIR number 121/2020, 122/2020, 123/2020, under Section 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act were registered at PS Chenani.
Reports further said that a police party of Police Post Tikri, led by Incharge PP, Sub-Inspector Jaswinder Singh, intercepted two Mahindera load carriers, bearing registration numbers JK21- 4649 and JK02BX- 8186, in which four bovine animals were found illegally loaded.
Police rescued the animals and arrested both the driver, identified as Liaqat, son of Kurshid Ahmed of Jhajjer Kotli and Vinod son of Raj Kumar of Ban Talab.
In this connection, FIR number 188/2020 under Section 188 IPC, 11 PCA and FIR 189/2020, under section 188 IPC, 11 PCA, 179/184 MV Act, were registered at Police Station Rehambal.
