KATHUA, Nov 15: Launching an attack on the ruling BJP for compromising Jammu’s demands for the power, Congress Party’s senior leader and Ex-MLC Th Balbir Singh demanded revocation of new land laws and farms laws in view of resentment among the people of downgraded Jammu and Kashmir.
The Ex-MLC Thakur Balbir Singh was speaking at two public meetings organised at Chadwal and Budhi in Kathua district to kick start the campaign of District Development Council candidates of the party.
In these two meetings, the people were aggressively against the new land laws and condemned BJP for their insensitivity towards the threat to the survival of Dogra culture in Jammu.
“They are good for nothing. They have received votes to rule us without considering our demands,” said Thakur Balbir Singh and added that “Without fear, we have to raise our voice and oppose the attempt of the Centre to divide Jammu into different sections to rule us. We are also nationalist. From AC rooms, they issue orders for J&K and again take Jammu for granted. There is resentment and people will come on roads, if their demands for revocation of new land laws are not accepted.”
Th Balbir Singh said Congress party never divided the people on the name of region or discriminated with Jammu. “The BJP should know that Dogras will not tolerate downgrading of their Royal Dogra State into a Union Territory. We have heard Union Territories becoming States, but it was the first time in the history of the country that a historic State with such a huge population and geographical areas has been deprived of their rights,” said the Ex-MLC.
He accused BJP of victimizing the innocent people of Jammu with their hollow slogans. “They have given nothing except putting the young generation’s future to uncertainty. The domicile certificates being given to the outsiders who have lived in J&K for just 15 years. They have been enabled to apply for Government jobs which are already less in J&K. Jobs should only be exclusive rights of J&K residents and lands should also be preserved for the actual residents of the erstwhile State, not to non-locals. Why is Jammu lands put on sale for outsiders? Are we less nationalists than the BJP? They are Jai Chands of Jammu who have sold honour and pride of Dogras,” said Thakur Balram Singh.
