48 medical shop licenses suspended

SRINAGAR, May 15: To ensure availability of quality drugs to the consumers, Drug and Food Control Organization, has launched 15-day long special drive from May 13 in the Valley.
During the first two days, as many as 278 medical shops were inspected in different districts of Kashmir division and licenses of 48 medical shops were suspended for violation of various provisions of D&C Act, 1940, besides 5 medical shops were put on show cause notices.
The special checking squads of the department suspended licenses of 10 medical shops in Anantnag district, 12 in Budgam district, 8 in Pulwama district, 5 in Baramulla and Kupwara districts, besides 13 licenses were suspended by Central team in Srinagar district.
Moreover, a special team sealed un-licensed shops of Bashir Ahmad at Inder Pulwama, Mohammad Yaseen at Kralpora Budgam, Ghulam Mohammad at Wapulpora Kralpora Budgam and Mohammad Lateef at Kralpora Budgam.
Moreover, the department has also lifted 238 samples of various categories of drugs for test/analysis in order to ascertain their quality.
