46 bovine animals rescued, 6 smugglers arrested

KATHUA /SAMBA, July 3: Forty six bovine animals were rescued by police in Kathua and Samba districts at different places today besides arresting six smugglers involved in smuggling of bovines from Jammu region.
While district police Kathua foiled two bovine animals smuggling bids and rescued 28 animals and arrested four smugglers, district police Samba foiled one bovine smuggling attempt and resuced 18 animals and arrested two smugglers.
As per reports district Police Kathua foiled two bovine smuggling bids in the jurisdiction of PS Lakhanpur today by rescuing 28 animals.
A police party of Police Station (PS) Lakhanpur headed by Inspector, Sanjeev Chib, SHO Lakhanpur laid a Naka at NHW By-pass road Lakhanpur and intercepted a truck bearing Registration. No. PB07R-6684, which was coming from Punjab and was on way towards Srinagar, Kashmir.
During checking of the vehicle 15 bovines were found laden inside it, which were being transported illegally. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. Two accused found involved in the commission of crime were arrested. They were identified as Sukhdev Singh, S/O Naranjan Singh of Tajpur Road Sanjay Gandhi Colony Ludhaina and his associate Harpreet Singh S/O Kashmir Singh, R/O Rasorpur Kalan tehsil & district Amritsar. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 61/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Lakhanpur and investigation started.
In another bovine smuggling bid the Police Station, Lakhanpur rescued 13 animals. A police party of Police Station Lakhanpur headed by Inspector, Sanjeev Chib, SHO, laid a naka at NHW Lakhanpur, intercepted a truck bearing registration Number UP15BT-5006 coming from Punjab moving towards Srinagar.
During checking of the vehicle 13 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle, which were being transported illegally. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. Two accused found involved in the commission of crime one accused namely Shahnawaz, S/O Mohd Akther R/O Baghra tehsil & district Muzaffer Nagar (UP) and associate Sonu S/O Shadoo, R/O Baghra tehsil & district Muzaffer Nagar (UP) were arrested by Police on spot. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 62/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Lakhanpur and investigation started.
District police Samba also foiled an attempt to smuggle bovines after arresting two bovine smugglers and rescuing 18 bovines in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal.
Reports said on the basis of reliable information a police party of PS Ghagwal laid a vehicle checking naka at NHW Tapyal, Ghagwal and intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number PB10GK-5003 which was coming from Punjab and moving towards Valley.
During checking of the vehicle, 18 cattle were found laden inside it without any permission. The accused driver identified as Ashwani Kumar, S/o Kher Singh, R/O Basal, tehsil & district Una, Himachal Pardesh along with his associate Mohd. Yasin, S/o Gama Ahmed R/O Satha Khorju Nallah, tehsil & district Samba have been arrested. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting bovines was also seized on spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 66/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
