JAMMU, July 3: Continuing the drive to provide better development and civic amenities to the people of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today inaugurated green spaces/parks on both sides of irrigation canal at Gangyal area of Ward number 56.
Advocate Purnima Sharma (Deputy Mayor) and Baldev Singh Billowaria, Chairman, Health & Sanitation Standing Committee, JMC (also Councillor of Ward number 56), Arun Khanna (Councilor of Ward number 25, Harbans Singh Choudhary (Ex-Mandal president, Gangyal), other BJP leaders, Arun Gupta (Executive Engineer), Anil Gupta (Assistant Executive Engineer), Junior Engineer and other field staff of JMC were also present during the inauguration.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that this was the long pending demand of the inhabitants of the locality as there was no other park in the nearby locality for the locals, especially children and old aged persons. Now their demand has been fulfilled with opening of this park with an estimate cost of Rs 3.97 crore, he added.
“The opening of the park got delayed only due to lockdown forced by Coronavirus,” the Mayor said and stated that in the vicinity of the park, there are beautiful play stations for children, suitable benches for sitting purpose, green plants along both sides of Park, walkway having 8 ft breadth in between the park as well as other facilities for the general public.
He said the park is fitted with automatic LED lights for providing proper lighting system for the visitors to avoid any type of mis-happening due to darkness. He further added that senior citizens of the surrounding localities can utilize the green spaces for regular interaction with their counterparts in addition to go for long walks.
The Mayor further told that JMC in collaboration with other departments is committed for developing more and more green spaces in different wards of Jammu City to provide eco-friendly atmosphere in the localities.
