JAMMU/RAMBAN, Feb 7: Pouni Chak and Banihal Police arrested 3 drug peddlers and a bootlegger.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Pouni Chak Police Post laid a naka and intercepted a bus bearing registration number JK02AH-6377.
During checking, police team recovered 6 kilograms of cannabis from the possession of three persons including driver and his two associates and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Deepu Sharma, son of Kartar Chand of Jandrah, Sahil Choudhary, son of Janak Choudhary of Lori Chak and Anil Singh, son of Tara Singh of Dhai Chak.
A case under FIR Number 44/2020 under section 8/20/25/27-A/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Domana Police Station and investigation initiated.
Police team led by Incharge Pouni Chak Police Post SI Varuneshwar Singh made the arrest under the supervision of Incharge SHO Domana Inspector Parvez, SDPO Domana Kosheen Koul, SP Rural Suram Singh and SSP Jammu Tejinder Singh.
Meanwhile, a team from Jawahar Tunnel Police Post led by SI Waseem Ahmed accompanied by SHO Banihal Inspector Abid Bukhari under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajad Sarwar, Additional SP Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB05AL-7643.
During checking, police team recovered 40 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle, while the accused managed to escape from the spot.
A case under FIR Number 15/2020 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and hunt has been launched to arrest the accused.
In another incident, a team from Banihal Police Station led by SHO Inspector Abid Bukhari under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajad Sarwar, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma laid a naka and arrested a man along with 50 bottles of illicit liquor.
The arrested person has been identified Abdul Rashied, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Hollin, Tehsil Banihal, District Ramban.
A case under FIR Number 14/20 has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
Meanwhile, Katra Police arrested a drug peddler during special naka at Moori and recovered 3 Kg poppy straw from his possession.
The accused, identified as Ranjit Singh son of Gandharb Singh of village Jaranu-Bhaga, Reasi, was on way towards Katra town from Jammu in his vehicle (Winger), bearing registration number JK20-2768 when Police intercepted him.
A case FIR number 23/2020, U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Katra . The arrest was made by SHO PS Katra Inspr Pardeep Gupta, who was assisted by SI Suman Singh I/C TAG Katra, under the supervision of SDPO Katra Vivek Shekhar and ASP Katra Naresh Singh.
