34 bovine animals rescued

UDHAMPUR, Mar 19: In a major success, Udhampur Police foiled attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 34 animals, which were being smuggled to Kashmir.
Giving details, SSP Rajiv Pandey, said that based on a reliable information, a Police party led by SHO Udhampur, Inspector Vijay Choudhary, laid naka at Thard area on NHW and intercepted three groups of bovine animals which were taken on foot by the smugglers towards Srinagar.
All 34 bovine animals were rescued and the accused smuggler, heading these three groups, namely Ab Rouf, son of Hashim Din of Baisht, Chenani, was arrested on the spot. However, two associates of the accused manage to escape from the spot by taking the advantage of heavy traffic on road.
In this connection, three cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the cases is going on.
