KATRA, May 17: Katra Police today arrested three women bootleggers and two drug peddlers, who were smuggling liquor and intoxicants to the holy town.
Acting on a specific input, a Police team headed by Inspector Sanjeev Sharma, SHO Katra, laid special naka at PCP Moorie. During checking, the police team succeeded in recovery of 100 poly pouches measuring 250/250 ml each of J&K Excise liquor from the possession of three women identified as Shashi Devi wife of Sunil Sharma of Sheesh Mehal Poonch (A/P Chintamani Katra), Vaishno Devi wife of Bala Ram of Chintamani Katra and Renu Devi wife of Som Raj of Chintamani Katra.
The accused women were arrested and recovered liquor pouches were seized. In this connection, a case FIR No. 82/2016 U/S 48-A Excise Act, 188/RPC has been registered at P/S Katra.
During the same naka, Katra Police also succeeded in recovery of 100 gms of poppy straw (Bhuki) and 49 numbers of intoxicated capsules from the possession of one Sanjay Sharma of Nomain Katra. The accused person was arrested and recovered Bhuki as well as capsules were seized. In this connection, a case FIR No. 80/2016 U/S 8/15/21/22 NDPS Act, has been registered at P/S Katra.
In another success, Police team succeeded in recovery of 90 gms of charas from the possession of Bhanu Partap Singh of Panassa Reasi when he was moving at Banganga Road in Katra. The accused person has been arrested and recovered charas has also been seized.
