3 killed, 6 injured as over-speeding minibus turns turtle

UDHAMPUR, June 5: Three persons died and six others were injured when a rashly driven minibus skidded off the road and turned turtle near SBI, Barrian Dhar Road Udhampur, here this morning.
The minibus, bearing Registration number JK020-1889, was on its way from Rehambal to Salian Talab Udhampur when it skidded off the road and turned turtle because of over speeding while attempting to overtake another minibus around 8.30 a.m.

Police and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared three of them as brought dead. Among the six injured, doctors referred two of them to Army Hospital Udhampur, because of their critical condition.
The deceased were identified as Bhushan Kumar (70) son of Late Tirath Ram of Barrian Udhampur and 18-year old Vinay Kumar (Conductor of the minibus), son of Charan Dass of Lanssi while identity of the third one, a male, could not be established as his face was badly crushed in the accident.
The injured were identified as Simran Sharma (25), daughter of Bhushan Kumar of Barrain, Surinder Butt (44), son of Niranjan Butt of Subash Nagar Udhampur, Bindiya Devi (35) wife of Bupinder of Barrian, Gupal Dass (30) son of Raj Kumar of Jakhani, Manvi (15) daughter of Mohinder Singh of Phalata and Tripta Rani (64), wife of Bhushan Kumar of Barrian Udhampur Udhampur. Simran Sharma and Tripta Rani were referred to Army Hospital Udhampur for advanced treatment.
District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Piyush Single along with SSP Rajiv Pandey visited the District Hospital Udhampur as well as Military Hospital Udhampur and took stock of medicare facilities being extended to the injured persons. The DDC instructed the doctors to provide best possible and free treatment to the injured for their fast recovery.
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, who represents Udhampur – Kathua Lok Sabha constituency, expressed his grief over the accident and spoke to DC Udhampur for ensuring all possible assistance to the victims.
Driver of the minibus managed to escape after the accident while police has registered the case in this connection and launched a hunt to nab him as he was solely responsible for the mishap, which led to death of three passengers and injuries to six others.
Meanwhile, taking serious cognizance of negligence of the driver, ARTO Udhampur has ordered permanent cancellation of his driving license.
According to an order, issued by ARTO Rachna Sharma, driving license number JK-1420160070197 of driver Bunty Sharma, son of Ved Parkash of Dubrah, Krimchi Udhampur, is permanently cancelled because of his negligent and rash driving. He has been debarred from driving any commercial or non-commercial vehicle in future.
