UDHAMPUR, Feb 18: Police today recovered 23 Kg of poppy straw from one inter-state narcotic smuggler, who was intercepted at Motorshed Naka on the National Highway in Chenani.
According to SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey, poppy straw was concealed in a truck bearing registration number HR58B- 3418, which was intercepted by a Police party, led by SHO Chenani, Insp Paramjeet Singh, under the supervision of Rajinder Singh Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur and Santokh Raj Deol, SDPO Chenani.
The accused driver namely Hardeep Singh son of Karmajeet Singh of Jungpura, District Mohali, Punjab was arrested on the spot and recovered poppy straw was also seized.
In this connection, a case FIR number 20/2020, under section 8/15 NDPS has been registered at PS Chenani and further investigation of the case is going on.
