UDHAMPUR, Apr 23: Udhampur Police foiled two bovine smuggling attempts in separate incidents and rescued 23 bovines being transported illegally without valid permission.
A patrolling party of PS Latti intercepted two brothers namely Mohd Tariq and Mohd Sain, sons of Mohd Hussain, resident of Sira, Tehsil Latti, who were found smuggling 10 bovine animals on foot from Chapper towards Kashmir without any valid permission.
Both the accused were arrested and all the bovines were rescued safely. In this regard FIR No. 11/2026 U/S 223 BNS & 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Latti and investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, during routine naka checking at NHW Tikri, a police party intercepted a truck JK03P-9380, driven by Amir Javid son of Mohd Javid Ahmed Kalas of Nar Sangar, Tehsil Larnoo, District Anantnag.
During checking, 13 bovine animals were found loaded in the vehicle and tied with ropes in a cruel manner. The driver failed to produce valid permission for the transportation of animals.
The accused was arrested on the spot and all the bovines were rescued safely. In this regard FIR No. 86/2026 U/S 223 BNS & 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Rehambal.
