DODA, Sept 15: A total of 226 slippers (126 of dewdar, 64 of Koil and two of Fur) were seized and three persons were arrested in this connection, police said.
According to a police spokesperson, after getting specific inputs, a team of District police led by Inspector Gurmeet Singh, SHO, Police Station Bhaderwah, intercepted a truck bearing registration No 0653/JK0AS near Domail in Bhaderwah during the night and recovered 226 slippers being smuggled illegally.
Two persons including driver of the vehicle namely Gai Singh, son of Lakshmi Chand, resident of Bhata (Kishtwar) and Mohd Ashraf son of Mohd Sikinder, resident of Chabba Thathri, were arrested on the spot while the Forestor, Safir Ahmed, who was also in the vehicle managed to escape.
In a similar drive, a police team from Police Station Bhaderwah raided the house of one Rajesh Padha, son of Vidia Sagar Padha, resident of Sartingal, Bhaderwah and recovered 170 kgs of Gushi and 9 kgs of Naagchattri.
The accused was arrested on the spot.
Two separate FIRs in these cases have been registered at Police Station Bhaderwah and further investigations were on.
