REASI, Mar 22: Continuing its drive against drug abuse and illicit liquor, Reasi police today arrested two persons and recovered 22 liters of illicit liquor.
Official sources said that during naka on Dera Baba road, on seeing Police party one person tried to flee in suspicious circumstances. He was chased and then apprehended.
On search of his bag 20 litres of illicit liquor was recovered from his possession.
He has been identified as Charan Singh, son of Baldev Singh, resident Bhaber Brahmna, in Reasi.
A case FIR No. 77/2022 U/S 48-(A)/50 Excise Act stands registered at Police Station Reasi in this connection.
Pertinently accused Charan Singh is notorious illicit liquor smuggler of the area, already arrested in case FIR No.102/2021 US 48(E) Excise Act, 307/353/336/34 IPC of Police Station Reasi and is facing trial in the case.
In another incident team of Police Station Arnas also apprehended one person namely Karnail Singh, son of Dewan Singh, resident of Jig, Arnas during the routine naka checking at Jij along with 02 litres of illicit liquor from his possession. In this regard, a case FIR No. 37/2022 U/S 48(a) Excise Act stand registered of Police Station Arnas and investigation initiated.
