KATHUA, Jan 22: While continuing its drive against the forest damages in Bani Range, the Forest field staff seized yet another cache of timber (21 scants) in Upper Loang area of Sarthal Forest Block.
Giving details a Forest official said that on the intervening night of Jan 20-21 the RFO -Bani Forest Range based on specific inputs constituted a team of field staff and were directed to inspect a Dhok (hutment) located in the upper snowbound reaches of Sarthal Forest block and near Joila Dhar area.
The field staff managed to reach the said spot after a tough on- foot journey and successfully seized illegally dumped old Deodar timber from inside the premises of one Badar Din, son of Ghulam Mohd, resident of village. Lowang. The owner of the premises was still at large. The total volume of the timber seized is 64.25 CFT and total numbers of scants seized are 21 of various sizes and volume.
