SRINAGAR, Mar 8: Two persons died of swine flu at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) today taking the number of swine flu deaths in Kashmir to 11.
The Medical Superintendent of SKIMS hospital, Dr Farooq Jan told Excelsior that two persons died in last 24 hours at SKIMS due to swine flu. “A 5-year-old boy from Tangmarg in district Baramulla who was admitted on March 3 to the SKIMS with acute lymphocytic leukaemia with respiratory disorders passed early today at 1 a.m. Another 45 year man from Sopore was admitted to SKIMS on March 5 with acute viral syndrome died late night”, he said.
Dr Farooq said that both patients were having co-morbidities of acute lymphocytic leukaemia. He said that both of them were tested positive for H1N1.
The MS said that 21 patients were seen today at special OPD and two samples were taken. He said that nine patients are admitted in the SKIMS with H1N1 and reports of samples processed for H1N1 are awaited.
