RAJOURI, May 21: Two persons were killed while seven others were injured in two separate road accidents in Rajouri and Poonch districts, the police said.
While son of a Tehsildar (Kalakote) was killed in accident near Chingus area of Rajouri last night, a 24-year-old youth died in yet another road accident near Bafliaz on Mughal Road in district Poonch this evening.
A Police spokesman said that a without number, new Safari vehicle rolled down into a gorge near Chingus on Jammu-Rajouri highway late last evening. Four youth were injured in the mishap. Two seriously injured were referred to GMC Hospital Jammu last night from DH Rajouri, where one of them succumbed to injuries on the way ahead of Sunderbani.
The deceased was later identified as Rajat Singh, son of Suneet Singh (Tehsildar), hailing from Nowshera. Manik, resident of Nowshera was also shifted to GMC and his condition was said to be stable. Sonu Choudhary and Aatish hailing from Sunderbani were admitted to DH Rajouri and they are also said to be stable.
Another report said that an Alto car rolled down into a nallah near Noori Chhamb on Mughal Road under Surankote police jurisdiction this evening. The vehicle was on way to Surankote side from Pir Gali. One person was killed on the spot while four others were injured and were removed to SDH Surankote. The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Mustafa Ahmed, son of Mohd Rafiq, resident of Kallar Morha, Rajouri.
The four injured were identified as Shadab Payami (22), son of Zahoor Khan, resident of Kallar Morha; Mohd Arif, son of Mohd Bashir; Umar Khan, son of Farooq Khan and Mohd Mukhtar, son of Mohd Razak, all residents of Bhata Durian. Condition of Mohd Arif was serious. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
