JAMMU, July 12: In two different road accidents at Reasi and Ramban districts today, two persons died and 10 others were injured.
Two persons died and five others sustained serious injuries when Load Carrier of a construction company rolled down in deep gorge near Chamayara under the jurisdiction of Katra Police Station while five persons were injured when a Maruti Van met with an accident at Gund Teather area of Tehsil Banihal.
The Load Carrier slipped into deep gorge after skidding off the road due to a big pothole, which could not be avoided by the driver thus resulting into the mishap and fatal injuries to the persons.
According to SSP Reasi, Tahir Sajad Bhat, a Mahindra load carrier bearing registration number JK20- 8340, attached with ITD construction company, fell down in Nallah near Chamayra, Katra, around 10.15 pm last night, resulting into grievous injuries to seven labourers, who were traveling in the vehicle.
On getting information, Katra Police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to CHC Katra. In view of the critical condition, four of the injured were referred to GMC Hospital Jammu where two of them succumbed to their wounds. They were identified as Tiku Rana (19), son of Balram of Ramnagar, Uttar Pradesh and Abhishek (22), son of Sarabjit Singh of Kapurthala, Punjab.
While Rana was declared as brought dead soon after being shifted at GMC Hospital last night, Abhishek succumbed to his injuries this morning.
Other injured, undergoing treatment at GMC and CHC Katra, were identified as Lovepreet Singh, son of Kallu Singh of Jalandhar, Rajkumar, son of Akash of Assam, Satvinder Singh, son of Satnam Singh of Fetehpur, Jalandhar, Sukhchogan Singh, son of Rajvinder Singh of Kapurthala, Punjab and Kuldeep Singh of Jalandhar.
Meanwhile, in separate road accident, five persons were injured, when the Maruti Van they were traveling in, met with accident at Gund Teather area of Tehsil Banihal today.
The Maruti Van was on its way to Banihal from Nowgam, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it collided with truck at Gund Teather area, resulting into injuries to five persons.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to SDH Banihal, from where one of them was referred to Bone and Joint Hospital Srinagar.
The injured have been identified as Tariq Saleem, son of Ghulam Hassan Wani of Nowgam, Mubashir Ahmed, son of Mohammad Amin of Nowgam, Sajad Ahmed, son of Abdul Gani of Kherekote Nowgam, Irshad Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed of Dooru District Anantnag and Saqib Ahmed, son of Abdul Gani Rather of Nowgam.
