2-day orientation programme organised by IGNOU concludes

JAMMU, Sept 16: The two day orientation programme of Academic Counselors associated with various local learner Study Centres of IGNOU in Jammu City culminated today.
The orientation programme was attended by around 50 academic counselors associated with several learner study centers of IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu.
Prof Satyanarayan from STRIDE, IGNOU, New Delhi who was the resource person for the programme interacted with the academic counselors and oriented them about the innovative techniques to be followed to provide effective and fruitful support services to the learners associated with IGNOU.
He shared his experiences about the support services in IGNOU with special reference to Study Centres as well as the regional centers. He specifically elaborated about the role of Academic Counselors in the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system of education.
He expressed his views about the tutoring and counseling and oriented the participants about the techniques to be adopted to conduct tutoring and counseling sessions effectively.
K K Bhat, Regional Director IGNOU RC Jammu also interacted with the participants and shared his satisfaction on the successful completion of the programme. He thanked the resource persons and all the academic counselors for making this event memorable.
The Academic Counselors expressed their extreme pleasure to be a part of such an event which was first of its kind in Jammu region. Some the academic counselors shared their feed back with the resource persons and were hopeful that more such events would be organised in future as well which would help academic fraternity associated with IGNOU to be at pace with the emerging techniques in the ODL system of education which would in turn help in betterment of support services to the students at large.
