JAMMU, July 5: Over 15,923 pilgrims performed darshan at holy cave of Swami Amarnath situated in deep Himalayas in South Kashmir district of Anantnag on fourth day of yatra today.
According to an official spokesman 15,923 pilgrims performed darshan at Cave shrine today from both traditional Nunwan-Pahalgam and shortest Baltal tracks.
With this the total number of pilgrims performing darshan at holy cave during last four days of yatra has reached 55,918.
Till yesterday evening 39,9,95 pilgrims had performed darshan at holy cave which is about 13000 feet above the sea level since the 48 day -long yatra started on July 2. While some of them were on their way to Baltal and Pahalgam others had reached to Capital City of Srinagar.
Meanwhile a fresh batch of about 11576 yatris, including women and Sadhus, from different parts of the country today left Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps for the holy cave shrine.
The yatra was going on smoothly and weather was also pleasant, a yatra official said.
Bum Bum Bolay rented in the air as fresh batch of about 7076 pilgrims, including women and Sadhus, left Baltal base camp for the cave shrine early this morning.
The pilgrims are likely to reach the cave shrine this afternoon after covering the 14-km-long hilly terrain on foot.
Meanwhile, pilgrims who had darshan yesterday have also started their return journey through Baltal track early this morning.
A fresh batch of 4500 pilgrims also left Nunwan Pahalgam base camp early this morning for Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the traditional route.
The pilgrims who had night halt at Chandanwari and other halting stations including Sheshnag and Panchtarni on the traditional track have also started their onward journey towards the cave shrine early this morning.
Besides a fifth batch of 1924 pilgrims including 1408 male, 362 female, 127 Sadhus and 27 female Sadhus left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas here early this morning for holy cave under tight security in a cavalcade of 53 vehicles including 42 buses and 11 LMVs.
All these vehicles had crossed the Jawahar tunnel till last reports came in. One Yatri bus has developed a snag on National Highway and it was replaced by another bus.
