12-yr-old boy dies with uncle’s gun

RAJOURI, Sept 9: A 12-year-old boy was killed as .12 bore gun of his uncle (Fufa) went off at village Kardenu near Androla, in Chingus area of Rajouri this afternoon.
A police spokesman said that mishap took place at around 2.15 pm when 6th class student- Nikhil Kumar, son of Kamal Kishore, resident of Dhanwan village had gone to the house of his Fufa, after school. Nikhil after test went to the Fufi’s house and saw .12 bore gun in the house. The minor boy unaware of the danger started fiddling with the loaded gun.
Suddenly, the gun went off and boy was critically injured. The other members of the family rushed inside after hearing the sound of gunfire. They saw Nikhil in the pool of blood and rushed him to Rajouri hospital where he was declared as dead. The police also reached there after some time. They seized the gun and registered a case in this connection. The body after postmortem was handed over to the family for last rites.
The family sources said that Nikhil had told at home in the morning that after class test he would get free early in the school and from there he would go to the house of his `Fufi’ (Bua) at Kardenu village. He was unaware that the gun was loaded. His uncle had loaded his licensed gun at night but he forgot to unload it in the morning. Moreover, it had not been kept under proper protection from the children and other family members.
