POONCH, Sept 9: While PWD office at Mandi was found locked most of the staff and officers at CDPO, Tehsil Social Welfare and Horticulture offices were found absent during surprise checking by the Deputy Commissioner Poonch today.
Officials sources said that DC Poonch, Nissar Ahmed Wani today paid surprise checking in various Govt offices in tehsil Mandi. He reached in the office of Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), PWD at 11.15 am and found it locked. He was shocked to see the condition and placed another lock on the office and directed all the staff members through Tehsildar to appear before him at Poonch office tomorrow. He sought explanation of AEE and all other staff members and directed to stop their salary. The DC also recommended departmental action against the staff to the Chief Engineer, Jammu.
Then he moved to the office of CDPO where he found only one peon and entire staff absent. The whereabouts of the CDPO were also not known for the last one week. He also issued similar directions for the officer and staff. Their salary has been stopped. Then at TSWO office the officer was absent besides all other staff. In Horticulture office, the Hort Officer was also found absent besides several other staff members. Only three members were there. Taking serious note of the habitual absenteeism, he stopped salaries of all and sought their explanations. The departmental action was also recommended to their respective HoDs. At BDO and Tehsil office, he was satisfied by the presence of the staff and officers concerned. At ZEO office also, there was no specific complaint.
