11 pilgrims hurt in accident

JAMMU, Apr 13: Eleven Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims were injured, when the Qualis car they were traveling in collided head-on with a bus in Bantalab area of Nagrota this morning.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number PB10AB-0601 carrying Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims were going back to their hometown after paying obeisance at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine when it was hit by a bus bearing registration number JK02BE-9395 coming from opposite direction near Bantalab, Nagrota, resulting into grievous injuries to 11 passengers.
On getting information, police team from Nagrota police station led by SHO Probationer DySP Aijaz Ahmed Naik rushed to the spot and started rescue operation.
All the injured were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in police and other vehicles, where their condition was stated to be out of danger when last reports came in.
The injured have been identified as Veena Devi, wife of Sham Singh, Krish, son of Sham Singh, Sham Singh, son of Des Raj, Reena Devi, wife of Mohan Singh, Navinder Singh, son of Munish Kumar, Abhishek, son of Mohan Singh, Kiran, daughter of Tarsem Singh, Narinder Singh, son of Bansi Lal, Seema, wife of Mohan Singh, Manat, daughter of Ranjit Singh and driver of Qualis car namely Dewan Chand, son of Anant Ram, all residents of Mukeriyan, Punjab.
The driver of the bus identified as Romesh Chander, son of Amaranth of Talab Tillo is absconding and manhunt has been launched to arrest him.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at police station Nagrota and investigation started.
