Srinagar, June 1: Minister for Social Welfare, ARI & Trainings and Science & Technology, Sajad Ahmad Lone today said a solar park with capacity of generating 100 MWs of electricity, is coming up in Samba district of Jammu province.
While responding to a question of Ajat Shatru Singh, the Minister said Government of India has approved establishment of the solar park in Samba and 4000 kanals of land will be required for setting up of such park and same has been identified by the Deputy Commissioner, Samba.
Lone informed the House that Centre will be providing Rs 20 lakh as developmental costs for the park against each MW of power and after the plots are developed in the park, same will be provided to the investors who will establish the power plants.
He further said that 44483 Solar Home Lights have been procured out of which 25852 SHLs have been distributed in the remote and unelectrified areas of the State.
The Minister said Project Proposals for two lakh LED based Solar Home Systems and 20,000 LED, solar street lights have been submitted to the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy for accord of sanction and release of admissible Central Financial Assistance (CFA).
The House was informed that the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has sanctioned thirty thousand LED based solar home systems and ten thousand LED Solar Street lights (SSLs) for district Kupwara. Lone said 15000 solar cookers are being distributed in the rural areas of the State to mitigate the cooking energy needs of the people living in remote areas of the State.
The Minister added that under the Grid Connected Solar Rooftop Power Plant Scheme, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, is providing a subsidy of 70% under the scheme for domestic, social and educational sectors. He said the J&K Energy Development Agency has formulated a draft policy for GCSRPP and same shall be notified soon. He said the scheme is expected to provide impetus to energy conservation in the State.
