10 hurt in truck-bus collision

POONCH, May 24: At least 10 persons were injured in a head on collision of a truck and bus in Khanetar area on Poonch-Jammu highway today.
A police spokesman said that the mishap took place when the bus no. JK02AE/ 1895 was on way to Jammu from Poonch. A truck no. JK02AU/5534 was coming from the opposite direction. They met head on collision at a curve near Khanetar village, hardly 10 kms from Poonch, causing injuries to at least ten persons including truck and bus drivers.

The injured were removed to District Hospital, Poonch where some of them were discharged after first aid. The four admitted to hospital for serious injuries were identified as driver Satpal, son of Thoru Ram from Jammu, Suresh Kumar, son of Sham Lal from Jammu; Divjot Singh, son of Manohar Singh from Poonch and Zarina Bi, wife of Farooq Ahmed, resident of Poonch. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
In a car accident in Mandi area this afternoon, two persons were injured. They were identified as Riasat Ali and Dilshad Ahmed, hailing from Bijnore in UP, presently residing at Chandak. They were also removed to Poonch hospital.
