10 arrested for Maisuma protests

Srinagar, May 26 : Police today arrested 10 accused persons in Srinagar, who were allegedly involved in yesterday’s protests outside Yasin Malik’s house in the Maisuma area of Srinagar.

Police registered a case (FIR number 10/2022 under relevant Sections of law) in Police Station Maisuma and investigation was initiated.
“Accordingly, midnight raids were conducted at many places that led to the arrest of 10 accused persons including the key accused involved in the commission of crime. However, the other accused persons involved in the crime are being identified and will be booked soon under relevant law,” the statement said.
“It is strongly reiterated that no attempt of creating law and order situation in the Valley will be tolerated and all mischievous attempts of provoking law and order situation by vested interests will be treated with full force of law. People especially youth are once again appealed not to indulge in any such activities which have potential of destroying their career and troubling their families,” police said.
In the meantime, shops and business establishments in parts of Srinagar remained closed in protest against life sentence to Malik.
