UDHAMPUR, Nov 23: One persons died and another was injured when a private van fell into deep gorge at Parli Bupp near Sudhmahadev, here today.
The deceased was identified as Sandeep Kumar, son of Omkar Chand, resident of Latti while driver of the vehicle, namely Ajay Kumar, son of Jagdish Kumar of Latti is undergoing treatment at Sudhmahadev Hospital.
The accident took place when Omni van, bearing registration number JK14F- 5171 was on its way from Chenani towards Latti. Rash and negligent driving is stated to be cause of the accident as driver lost control over the vehicle, which slipped into around 200-250 feet deep gorge. Due to the accident co-passenger Sandeep Kumar died on the spot while driver Ajay Kumar sustained serious injuries.
Meanwhile, according to Police, a mutilated body of an unidentified male was found at Brota under the jurisdiction of Udhampur Police Station.
The deceased was wearing white shirt with stripes, sky blue colour pent and white sweater. The body was badly mutilated and apparently eaten by some wild animals. On being informed, Police took the body into its custody and shifted it to mortuary room of DH Udhampur for identification and other legal formalities.
