JAMMU, Aug 28: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Ch. Zulfkar Ali has directed the officers of Works Department to maintain quality of works strictly as per the specifications and set norms to ensure their appropriate utility by the public on ground.
During separate meetings with the functionaries of PMGSY and PWD, the Minister took detailed review of the developmental works in Darhal Constituency of Rajouri district and instructed officers of both the departments for discouraging the practice of sub-letting the contracts and maintaining close coordination between concerned agencies to clear the bottlenecks, if any, so that all the on-going projects were completed in a time-bound manner.
The Minister directed for undertaking execution of work on 12-kilometre Kassian Darhal to Thannamang Road which stands sanctioned under 10th Phase of PMGSY involving an amount of Rs 1441 lakh. He said that this bypass road in Darhal will play pivotal role in easing the problems of the people of this belt and adjoining areas.
While reviewing the status of PMGSY works under Phase 1 to 10, the Minister was apprised that out of total 56 sanctioned schemes, 33 have been completed while as the work on the remaining schemes is in progress. With the commissioning of these schemes, as many as 44 numbers of villages have been connected with road links.
Similarly, 6 road projects will be completed till March 2017 under Road & Building sector. The work on Koteranka to JNV Kandi , Parinar to Larkuti , Khoriwali Budhkhanari road Bagh to Chitti Bhati via Jabbar and Darhali Bridge to Chatyar Road are at final stage, the meeting was told.
The meetings were attended by Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Shabir Batt, Chief Engineer R&B Jammu, Alok Mengi, Chief Engineer PMGSY Jammu, Abdul Hamid Sheikh, Superintendent Engineers of R&B and PMGSY Rajouri, Executive Engineers of R&B and PMGSY Rajouri and Budhal besides other field staff.
