JAMMU, Aug 28: Police is clueless about three pilgrims including one youth of Billawar and two girls of Khoon Udhampur who had gone for pilgrimage of Machail Mata in Kishtwar district and are reportedly missing since August 19.
Though Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan today deputed 10 member Police Party in Masoo Jasana near Machail where the parents of the missing persons have reported that their children were seen by some pilgrims trapped in the nullah, after day long search operation, police returned clueless.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner said ” on the insistence of parents and relatives of missing persons a police team was deputed  to the area for search of the missing persons and after a day long search the team could not get any clue of them”.
The administration apprehends that the trio might have been washed away in flash floods of the nullah which inundated the area after the cloud burst on the fateful day. The nullah joins the mighty Chenab at a distance.
” We are still trying to trace the missing pilgrims and leave no opportunity at our level but if they have drowned in the river it is very difficult to trace them”, DC added.
It may be recalled that administration deputed a police party for search operations on the directives of Union Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh who also represents Kathua Doda Lok Sabha Constituency.
Dr Singh had assured the administration that in case the pilgrims were traced the Government will depute NDRF team and Army chopper for rescuing them.
Meanwhile, parents and relatives of the missing pilgrims are in a shock and they are desperately pursuing every one in administration seeking their help and support in tracing their children.
