Zanskar road reopens for traffic after 5 months

KARGIL, Apr 21: After remaining closed for more than five months due to heavy snowfall during winter months, the Kargil – Zanskar Road was reopened for traffic.
The first vehicles to ply on the road were 4 oil tankers carrying petrol and diesel to the Sub Division.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zanskar Sonam Dorjay expressed his gratitude to the UT Administration and oil vendors for replenishing the stock of essential items to the Sub Division soon with the opening of the road.
Meanwhile, the SDM Zanskar distributed free face masks among the villagers of Salapi, Ufti-Pipiting and Padum Panchayat.
These masks have been prepared by the Handloom Department Zanskar.
