Yudhvir takes traders issues with JMC, PWD

JAMMU, Oct 1: Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), vice president, Yudhvir Sethi took up the matter of reconstruction of roads in Chowk Chabutra, Pacca Danga, Jain Bazaar, Link Road, Moti Bazaar and Sabzi Mandi areas to bring the level of roads below the floor level of shops with Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Ms. Avny Lavasa, telephonically and apprised her of the imminent problems to the traders running businesses in these areas on this count.
The senior BJP leader informed the JMC Commissioner that the level of roads in the area having crossed the floor level of the traders’ shops and they are craving for reconstruction instead of the routine blacktopping that would add further to the miseries of the traders especially during rainy season as rain water would enter their shops.
The JMC Commissioner told Sethi that these markets along with the roads would be developed under the Smart City plan in which this particular problem would be addressed.
Earlier Sethi led a delegation of Association representatives to Executive Engineer PWD Roads and Building Department Jammu, Rajesh Bhagat and T.O PWD Prem Kapoor and apprised them of the problems being faced by traders due to the level of roads in the area which have crossed the floor level of the traders’ shops and they need reconstruction.
Sethi conveyed to the Executive Engineer that the roads in all these areas after the routine blacktopping have reached a level that is going to have adverse impact upon the business of the traders as there is every probability of rain water entering into their shops being at a comparatively lower level.
Sethi impressed upon the Executive Engineer to prepare a meticulously formulated plan so that they do not suffer losses on account of damage to their stocks and goods due to rain water entering into their establishments.
The senior BJP leader suggested that there is a dire need for reconstruction of these roads.
The Executive Engineer assured the delegation that a reasonable decision would be taken up so that the interests of traders are secured.
