JAMMU, July 20: A youth was murdered in Nagrota area in outskirts of this winter capital of the State, late last night.
According to a police spokesman, a youth identified as Pankaj Khajuria (25) son of Sham Lal, a resident of Katal Batal (Nagrota), was attacked with sharp edged weapons by some unidentified miscreants late last night, when he was on his way back to home on his bike from Jammu, where he was working in a private firm.
“In the attack, Pankaj received serious injuries. He was spotted by two men in a pool of blood near Panjgrian in Nagrota. The two men rushed him to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries after sometime”, the spokesman said, adding the exact location where the incident happened could not be ascertained.
He said that after completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while a case under relevant Sections have been registered at police station Nagrota.
When contacted, SDPO Nagrota, Amit Sharma, said that they have detained some suspects in the case and further investigations are underway.
