NEW DELHI: Limited overs skipper MS Dhoni reckons that once anyone gets associated with the gentleman’s game, it becomes tough to detach the ‘cricket keeda’ from one’s inner-self.
“The cricket bug (keeda) never goes out of you. It is always there, no matter whatever is your age. Even when you leave the game, you still try to stay connected with it and that is why you see a number of cricketers, even after retirement, coming back to it as commentator or coach,” the Ranchi lad said, on the sidelines of his association as the global brand ambassador for Secured Venture capital, an Australia-based company.
Dhoni further spoke on the current Team India, who is touring the Carribean islands for a four match test series, and said the squad has a good pool of bowlers, which is the best thing.
“The good thing about the bowling attack is that we have a pool of talented bowlers, who all are fit and can swing and also bowl at a decent pace, but you have to be careful about injuries,” the 35-year-old said.
“The Caribbean wickets may have slowed, but you still get help. The spinners will also get a lot of advantage there,” he said.
Also, commenting on the batting line-up, the keeper-batsman said, “Though there are two or three batters who may not have played more than a couple of series, but we have 5-6 batters, who have played a good amount of cricket outside (foreign soil) and carry tremendous experience with them.” Dhoni, who retired from test cricket in 2014 in Australia, misses the longest format of the game. However, he asserted that it was a right call. (AGENCIES)
