KISHTWAR, Aug 23: Stressing for more reforms in education sector, Member Legislative Council (MLC) and District president, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Firdous Tak, today said that the empowerment of youth was imperative for prosperity of any society and State.
“Education is one of the prime focused sector of coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir and the reforms launched by the Education Minister Naeem Akhtar speak about the objective of PDP in reviving the system, which otherwise stands collapsed due to the mis-governance, nepotism, corruption and lack of political will”, Tak said while addressing students from various institutions of the district here today.
The party, on the occasion, also announced formation of the district body (interim) of PDP Students Union.
The legislator said that there is need to ensure that youths are not left out on matters of national development. “Nation progress is directly linked to the status of youth in a community as such it is the educated, empowered and confident youth which can lead a state towards prosperity”, he said adding that the reforms initiated by the Education Ministry in J&K are aimed at building a strong base and bring transparency in the sector.
He said that Government realizes the important role which youths play in national development adding that government has put in place a number of policies aimed at empowering them. “We want more reforms to follow not only in the education sector but a strong mechanism has also to be put in place in ensuring that that Government provides career counseling and helps youth in their employment quest”, he said.
Among others Wasil Doolwal, Rashid Lone and Arif Hussain Mir also interacted with the students. As an interim measure, the district president nominated Mudassir Ahanger as District incharge and Arif Hussain Malik as general secretary. Mehran Anjum, Haroon Zargar, Naresh Kumar, Arif Rasool and Muhammad Iqbal were nominated as secretaries, incharge GDC Kishtwar, Polytechnique College and ITI, respectively.
